Congrats to the Employer Winners!

We are so thankful to all of the individuals and organizations that participated in this year’s Walk & Roll Challenge. Every year we like to recognize three organizations that take significant, voluntary supports to support their employees’ use of alternative transportation. This year we awarded organizations in three categories: Best Overall, Most Improved, and “Smartest” Organization.

The Best Overall award recognizes the organization that has recorded the highest percentage of trips on NuRide, per employee. The Most Improved award recognizes the organization that has most improved their percentage of trips recorded per employee, compared to last year. The “Smartest” Organization award recognizes the organization that has completed the most voluntary actions to promote the Challenge and encourage employees to take alternative transportation.

… Drumroll please…

Best Overall: Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization
Runner Up: Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP

Most Improved:  Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP
Runner Up: San Antonio River Authority

“Smartest” Organization: Southwest Research Institute
Runner Up: City of Leon Valley

Thank you to all of the organizations that participated!

All of the organizations are invited to join us for the awards ceremony at the AACOG Board of Directors meeting on June 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Participating organizations will be recognized with a certificate, and winning organizations will be awarded a trophy.

Congrats to Alejandra!

Alejandra won the grand prize, a $200 Visa gift card, for recording at least one trip on NuRide during the Challenge time frame (May 1-31).

During the month of May, Alejandra recorded 46 transit trips on NuRide, resulting in:

  • 508 miles of reduced Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT),
  • 23 gallons of gas saved,
  • $277 saved, and
  • 460 pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions averted!

Alejandra says she enjoys her green commute because she doesn’t have to “worry about the traffic and about where to park.” She’s been recording her trips on NuRide for about five years, and her favorite NuRide reward is the 2 for 1 entrée special at Matamoros Restaurant! She says she’s thankful for “the ability to be a part of the improvement of air quality and to save money on gas.”

Have you checked out the NuRide app?

If you haven’t already, check out the new NuRide iPhone app. It includes all of the current features of the website – plus a ton more!

The app has cool new features, like the ability to compare trip modes by mileage, time, and pounds of carbon dioxide emissions.

You can also view locations for nearby park and ride lots, bike share locations, car share locations, EV charging stations, and current traffic conditions.

You can even automatically record trips on Lyft Line, Strava, or Under Armour and receive points for those trips!

The Android mobile app will be unveiled later this year, so stay tuned!
