Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Outreach Specialist/Senior Volunteer Program
Coordinates Area Agency on Aging (AAA) volunteer projects and events to include assisting with implementation of volunteer and Independent School Districts (ISD) recruitment and retention coordination of specialized in-service training, as well as coordination and conducting public awareness sessions in a variety of forums; Maintains contact with partners, non-profit agencies, schools, vendors, and state and federal agencies to facilitate cross-project communications and relations; Coordinates projects and events to support implementation of senior demonstration programs that assist older adult clients.
Coordinates projects, workshops, special events and outreach efforts to recruit and retain volunteers; Develops and coordinates specialized volunteer in-service training; Conducts public presentations to community leaders, ISDs, partner agencies and local service agencies, organizations and subcontractors; Serves as a representative for local, state and federal government agencies, and with local, state and national organizations for older adults and people with disabilities; Attends appropriate meetings, workgroups, and conferences; Compiles, analyzes and prepares reports related to public and media activities as well as other initiatives undertaken by AAA for submission to AACOG, Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), AmeriCorps, AAA Committees and/or related funding sources regarding status of AAA; Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Desired Degree/Job Experience: Associate’s Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Marketing, Liberal Arts, or related field; Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of Aging, Social Work, other Human services, Community Outreach, or related field; Two (2) years of full-time Aging or Social work with people with disabilities and volunteer management experience may be substituted for one (1) year of the required education; Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Prefer Bilingual in English and Spanish.
This position is a Pay Grade 12 with a starting hourly salary of $20.68. This is an non-exempt position. Open until Filled. Only electronic online applications will be accepted.
