This is a part-time, non-supervisory position that will primarily conduct quality assurance of claims received, claims denied and review of write off recommendations provided from Accounting. Duties include: auditing claims to ensure accuracy, correcting claims with contracted payroll company (CDS), assisting with claim rejections to include researching reason for rejection, along with assisting Accounting department with investigating suspended and recouped claims; Competently use all software required by AACOG, which include Netsmart Electronic Health Record, Financial Management System (FMS), and Microsoft Excel; Assisting in reconciliation process for each billing cycle if required by Accounting; Functioning as resource person for departmental personnel to answer questions and assisting with problem resolution; Assisting with communicating and acting as a liaison between VDC and Accounting’s billing departments; Staying up-to-date on current laws; Determining changes in the law and changes with the Veteran’s Administration; Attending all training required by the manager; Typing various documents including memoranda, letters, reports, forms, and mailing labels, and stores records in accordance with the State of Texas records retention statute, Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) standards and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. All job duties are considered essential; Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Desired Degree/Job Experience: Associates degree in Finance, Accounting, Technical, Healthcare, Business or related field; One (1) year experience with medical billing specifically Veteran’s Administration billing or medical claims processing; Prefer one (1) year experience with healthcare background in medical claims processing within a government program; Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skill and abilities.

This position is a Pay Grade 9, with a starting hourly rate of $17.35. This is a non-exempt position. Open until Filled. Only electronic online applications will be accepted.
